| “Athletes and Authors revolves around three aspects: |
| Academics Athletics Values |
| Students will develop reading comprehension and writing skills by participating in various academic classroom activities. These activities will revolve around reading sports literature and teaching language arts concepts from Maryland’s Voluntary State Curriculum.
The athletic aspect of the camp allows students to develop knowledge of fundamental skills for various sports by being able to perform these skills using proper cues in a controlled, competitive environment. Athletes and Authors will also develop social skills associated with team sports by being able to demonstrate cooperation, teamwork, sportsmanship and effective communication. It is from integrating the camp’s cornerstones of academics, athletics and values that students will learn how to translate skills learned in Athletes and Authors to academic achievement in the classroom during the regular school year.” Ansel Sanders and Nick D’Ambrosio |
