Ansel Sanders
Mr. Sanders currently resides in Greenville, SC, with his wife, Helen. After serving as an Assistant Principal at Mauldin Middle School for two years, Mr. Sanders is now working to start an elementary school in downtown Greenville: A. J. Whittenberg Elementary School. He will serve as the school’s Director of Programs. While in Greenville, he also coached the Eastside High School lacrosse team for two years. He will also open a chapter of Athletes and Authors in Greenville beginning this summer.
For three years at Roland Park Middle School, he taught 8th grade language arts and coached both the soccer and lacrosse teams, helping them to multiple city championships.
Mr. Sanders graduated from Washington and Lee University in 2004 with a Bachelor of Arts in English. He also has a Masters of Arts in Teaching from Johns Hopkins University. While at Washington and Lee, Mr. Sanders played four years of varsity lacrosse, twice captaining the team and twice earning All-American honors as a goalie.
He is certified in First Aid and CPR.
Meet the Program Director

Kate Nolan
A native of Virginia, Miss Nolan graduated from Randolph- Macon College, majoring in French and minoring in Elementary Education. Miss Nolan returns to Athletes and Authors Summer Academy as Program Director this summer after serving as an Academic Coordinator last summer. She currently teaches and coaches 5th grade at St. Paul’s School for Girls. She teaches Maryland history and learning services classes and coaches field hockey, swimming and lacrosse. Miss Nolan has also worked at a residential sailing camp on the Rappahannock River of Virginia. She loves sailing, reading, and traveling! |
